It's been a busy season here at La Cannonerie but definitely one of our highlights was a wedding held in June. With plenty of blue sky and sunshine it was a gorgeous day and here are a few of the photos. We are now taking reservations for 2018 (and 2019 too if you are very organised!). We have been experiencing a beautiful Autumn here in the Charente Maritime. Its a wonderful time to be in this part of France. Lots of blue skies, clean crisp air and both the trees and vines are putting on a fabulous display of colour. We love to walk along the tow paths between Cognac and Jarnac and here are a few photos from last weekend.

La Cannonerie is open all year round so if you would like to make a reservation in one of our cottages please email us at info@lacannonerie.com We are happy to offer weekend breaks out of the season.

As its Half Term we took the kids to visit Rochefort. Not only is it a wonderful place to walk around La Corderie Royale (the beautiful 17th Century rope making buildings) they also offer the chance to climb the ropes of a ship in the dry docks. Its a reconstruction of a ship similar to the L'Hermione (which sits in the dry dock next door and also offers tours) The ropes are 30 metres up so you need a head for heights but once you are up there it offers spectactular views over Rochefort. Its the only one in Europe so pretty special too. Open to children 6 years and older.

We recieved a lovely review from guests who stayed in No.7 La Charmille in September -

Stunning, breathtaking experience! Five Stars

This is one of the most wonderful places we have stayed. The whole experience will stay with me forever. The house and site was so calm and renovated with great care and taste. The surrounding countryside is a delight to drive through and there are lots of pretty towns nearby. It was so nice to talk to the owners who helped us with local places and information. It was good too to have UK TV channels to watch whilst relaxing in our cottage. Top marks Shelley and Talfryn and hope to return again someday.

Just a few photos of a lovely sunny afternoon in historic Pons last week (just 15mins by car from La Cannonerie). We took advantage of the wonderfully mild October weather and enjoyed a delicious lunch opposite the 12th Century dungeon and then a stroll around the gardens - highly recommended to all our guests!
